I’ll make this the final part about semaglutide for now, but please do ask me any other questions you have and I’ll do my best to answer you. I’d be happy to cover more about semaglutide in future emails in a few weeks.

Ok. So, if you’ve decided to give semaglutide a try, then there are things you’re going to want to bear in mind.

Overall, your aim should be to create habits and routines which will last you for the long term. Try to think of the semaglutide as a way to make it easier to get through the difficult initial stages of this.

The appetite-reducing impacts are pretty severe. Which sounds great. But when faced with the reality, it can be a bit hard going.

You’re going to need to make sure the meals you eat are geared towards maintaining as much of your muscle mass as you’re able to.

This means making sure your meals contain sufficient protein. If you’re very overweight, you’ll want to aim to have 1.2g protein per kg of your ideal body weight.

Of course, making sure you’re eating plenty of veggies is important too and while carbs aren’t essential, it’s probably helpful to have a serving of high fibre carbs with your dinner.

Next, you’re going to want to consider your exercise routine.

If you’re new to exercise, start really slowly and very gradually build up. Bear in mind that your strength and fitness will probably progress a little more slowly than they otherwise might because you’re eating significantly less.

If you’re already exercising, you’re probably going to need to wind back what you’re doing because you’re not eating so much which means that what your body will be able to recover from will be vastly reduced. Doing more is not going to improve your results.

Either way, my advice would be to focus your exercise routine on (no prizes for guessing!) resistance work as it will promote maintenance of your muscle mass, which is super important all round – particularly when you’re losing weight.

I’d be really interested to hear if you are thinking about trying semaglutide, please do let me know!
