Often in November we try to tighten up our diets for a few weeks, in anticipation of all the tasty treats heading our way over Christmas.
If this is the position you find yourself in right now, remember a revelation is not what is needed – 99% of the time, a simple ‘brush up’ around the edges is enough to achieve the changes you’re looking for.
Here are my top three strategies to put in place in order to shift a few pounds over the next few weeks:
Write Down Your Food Intake
You probably already have a good idea of how your diet should look when you’re aiming to lose a little weight (and if you don’t, send me a message and I’ll happily make a few suggestions).
The chances are that simply writing down what you’re eating (while or just before you eat it) is enough to focus your mind on making good choices.
Even if it’s only you who looks at your food diary, simply looking at your intake on paper is a handy way of making you consider your choices.
Don’t Drink Calories
It is surprisingly easy to tot up a lot of calories in drinks. A glass of juice, a couple of lattes and a glass or two of wine adds up quickly – especially over the course of a week.
The best bit is that these are fairly easy calories to remove from your diet, and most of us can happily create enough of a deficit to see the scales shift by just making a few changes.
Move A Little More
Simply trying to move a little more often during the day is a great way to burn some calories. Don’t think of this as exercise, and know that you shouldn’t finish up feeling like you’ve done a workout, just move around a bit more than you otherwise would.
Without increasing the load on your body significantly, general movement will increase your calorie expenditure.
These strategies might sound simple, but if you think you could make improvements in these areas then they will work for you – no revelation needed!
