When you’re looking to lose weight, really, you have two options:
Option A Now, no one is going to tell you that option A won’t work. It will work, and it’ll work quickly. You will see quick changes with this option BUT, what you’ll find is that you also reach a long lasting, hard plateau fairly quickly. And, once you’ve reached this plateau, it will be hard to break through it without cutting your intake and increasing your activity further and further – until you’re surviving on a tiny amount of food and spending all your time exercising. Worse, if you dare to take a couple of days off, or eat a little more, the weight will stick to you like glue. However, option B will get off to a bit of a slower start. Not much appears to happen immediately but then the change starts to accelerate and snowball. This approach is much more sustainable both in terms of the habits you’re putting into place and in terms of the results you will see over the long term. It’s kind of like delayed gratification, except it’s not, because you’ll almost certainly never reach your goals with option A. So, if you’re looking for true last-for-life results, don’t be tempted to do the most you possibly can – instead, do what is genuinely sustainable for the long term and work at consistently putting these changes into place. I think you’ll be surprised at how well this approach works for you. |
